Have you ever injured yourself and become anxious about getting your muscles repaired? Ever since I can remember, I have been the type of gal that loves high intensity workouts. However I have also suffered with bad knee injuries since I was 17 years old. As you all know, I love working out and lifting weights: and my injuries come and go. I’m not really into yoga or barre; but I know those are great tools to get really flexible. Two years ago, I had a bad injury on my left knee and lower back. I was going to a physical therapist and I felt like I was slowly getting better but not as quickly as I was hoping. It was then that I met Josh Truex from @musclewhisperjosh and he introduced me to the foam roller. Let me tell you guys, the foam roller is the best thing that has ever happened to me! Now I know how to fix my body from head to toe.
Today I will be showing you how to fix your hams, calves, quads and unlock your hips using the foam roller. For your hammies and calves, I place the form roller under the hammies and calves and I hold each position for 1-3 minutes.Do NOT roll back and forth other than to warm up the area. By holding the tension, you will release all the tightness. For your quads and hips, lay the roller toward the top middle of your thigh and you should feel a good spot of tenderness. Slowly roll down the leg; keeping pressure on the roller. This will hurt like heck; but dealing with the pain will release the tension. Hold for 2 minutes. “Muscles are trained not to give up and the same goes with stretching.”—Josh Truex
You can also use a tennis ball which will give you similar results as far as your muscles are concerned. Sometimes when I am travelingI will take my foam roller or a tennis ball and they always come in handy. I want to give Josh Truex@musclewhisperjosh a shout out “Thank You” for giving me the right tools and teaching me how to use them in my efforts to fix my body. I highly encourage you to follow his work on Instagram/ Facebook and watch his video. I hope you all enjoyed this workout tip. I will be posting different workout tips every other week; so if you have any workout requests, please leave me a comment. Follow me on Snapchat @uptownfashion8 for my adventure to Las Vegas.
