Finding balance with food

August 9, 2018 -

Hello Friends,

My parents are from El Salvador and growing up in a household full of Salvadoran dishes was amazing. When I was in college I would just eat out everyday because I didn’t make time to cook. I was never really taught how to eat healthy until I grew up, and started to live on my own.

Living a healthy balance  life is the best way to go. I enjoy eating healthy but I also like to treat myself every now and then. I find that if you keep everything in moderation it is ok  to have a cookie, piece of cake or burger every once in a while. I always meal prep three days in advance in order to keep me on track. I like cooking lots of veggies, chicken, and my famous turkey meatballs to give you a couple of examples. I think if you eat one cookie is not bad but if you eat 5 cookies or more that’s when you break that moderation rule. Another example of finding a good balance in food is turkey bacon. It’s a bit more healthier than bacon which contains lots of bad fats.

I know that we all put pressure on ourselves to look a certain way. By living in today’s society with social media so prevalent, we focus on our weight and trying to be fit.  But in reality it’s all about feeling good with the way you feel. You don’t need to be super skinny to feel good. As for me I just want to feel great, gain muscle weight and eat the things I enjoy without feeling guilty. When we hear the word diet, the first thing that comes up in mind is salads, vegetables, no carbs and no sugar. But in reality what you need to know is eat smaller meals throughout the day.  By eating 5 to 6 meals  your metabolism will work faster and you burn more calories. Incorporate eating fiber, good fats, protein and greens in your daily meals, will help give you the results to have been wanting.

Lastly, you cannot forget to exercise 4 to 5 days a week which will help increase your energy to burn more calories throughout the week. You will be surprise how much energy you will have after you workout. Remember keeping  a good balance in your life style will have you feel wonderful. I hope you all enjoy this post! Thank you for stopping by!
