Hello Friends,
It’s that time of year to change out your winter wardrobe for a fresh spring wardrobe; while also purging some items that you don’t wear anymore. You should really clean out your wardrobe every 4 to 6 months throughout the year; and spring time is the perfect time to make changes. So if your closet is “busting at the seams” with clothing; here are 7 tips that will help you clean out your closet.
1. Old Sweaters…If you haven’t worn that itchy wool sweater that you bought 5 years ago for your everyday wear; then it’s time to say goodbye. Those sweaters are just taking up valuable space and they need to go!
2. Clothing gifts…We all receive clothing items for gifts that are just not our style. I can relate because I received a couple of scarves two years ago from someone close to me; but I really didn’t love them. These items have been sitting in my closet, taking up space, because I felt bad getting rid of them. I decided to donate the scarves to a wonderful family that was in need of items. So take solace in knowing that the person that gave you the gift probably doesn’t remember giving it to you; so let it go!
3. Dresses…This is a difficult one. Whether you paid a lot of money or a minimal amount for a dress; if that dress is sitting in your closet for more than a year and you still haven’t worn it; then chances are you probably won’t wear it! Every year the fashion industry introduces new styles and trends and most people will buy the newest trend rather than settle on an outdated style.
4. Items you used to love, but no longer wear…Fashion trends come and go. If you have an item that you only wore once and has been sitting in your closet for more than a year; then it’s probably time to let it go. I have a few things in my closet that I used to love but are now collecting dust. However, I have found a solution for getting rid of these items.I have been using Poshmark and selling some of my items on their site. It’s a great way of getting rid of unwanted items and making money at the same time.
5. Anything you don’t wear…If there is anything you don’t wear, for whatever reason, it’s taking up space in your closet. You are probably feeling guilty that you haven’t worn such a nice piece of clothing. You need to let it go and either donate it or sell it on Poshmark.
6.Things that don’t fit…No one wants to get rid of something expensive; but if it doesn’t fit, then let someone else have it. Let those clothes go; and dress for the body you have now!
7.Worn out or damaged shoes…If your shoes are truly worn out and you keep on wearing them; you’ll only end up making your shoe soles look thin. If you love the shoes that you are currently wearing; buy a second pair, but get rid of the worn shoes. They don’t look pretty!
I hope you all enjoy these tips and I would love to hear your feed on this post. Happy Saturday!
